This photo may be of the 1st electric light that was installed in Houston. This photo could be of Daniel Hacker or one of his sons. Several of them worked for HL&P as wick trimmers, per an old city directory. Both men may be Hacker men or one of them could be Nick Linzza, son in law of Daniel Hacker. It was said that Nick Linzza installed the 1st electric light in Houston, TX. Here are some tidbits from a Houston history site: http://www.texasbest.com/houston/history.html ________________________________________________________________________ 1868--First trolley cars (mule-drawn) appear; first gaslights installed. 1880--Houston gets its first arc light. 1882--Houston Electric Light Co. organized. Houston and New York were the first cities to build electric power plants.
As I have said, Daniel and Wilmuth Hacker had 8 sons and 5 daughters. We are not sure of who the 6th and 7th girls pictured are, nor sure if all the males pictured are sons. We do know that Cornelia is pictured here.

Daniel and Wilmuth Hacker with their (8 sons and 5 daughters)children and grandchildren, including Louise Froelich (wife of Arthur), daughter in law, and (we think) 1 other daughter in law. We believe that Creed Driskill (husband of Cornelia) is the man in front row, sitting.
The likely location of this picture is on Harrisburg in Houston, TX, taken in anywhere from 1901 to 1906. In 1897 Daniel bought 160 acres in the area. We know that the family was in the same area earlier because they are in the city directory for the years 1890-1891.
